Marking this weekend’s Greek Orthodox Easter with a flash back to the days when Catherine could still be convinced to wear an Easter bonnet — in this case 2000.
We stopped to take this photo on the way to the children’s service that year. It was the first time year we let Catherine help hold the lit candle that is a mainstay of the Easter liturgy and my sage-green suit paid dearly for it.
The Easter bunny stopped by church after worship, bearing all many of sugar-laden treats (bought on sale following the Catholic Easter, natch). Much as she wanted yet another basket, Catherine couldn’t bear to meet that bunny face to face.
It won’t surprise you to know that Basil stood in line for her.
