Basil and Catherine enjoying the dinner cruise in Hawaii in February. Primed, no doubt, but all the fresh fruit on that trip, they came home with a whole new healthy attitude.
We’ve been dishing up big helpings of healthy living around here — or trying to anyway.
I’ve been exercising for ages, but finally Basil and Catherine have gotten on the band wagon, too, both joining a local gym and working out a couple days a week.
(I can’t get them to take one of my Jazzercise classes, but I’m convinced that’s only because they are afraid I’ll kick their butts.)
Each of them has made a big effort to change their eating habits, too, and I’ve been (not so secretly) buying less and less snack stuff.
This morning, Basil announced he had dropped 14 pounds and that it’s the first time he’s been at his current weight since Catherine was born 18 years ago.
I’ve been noticing the difference in his face and how his clothes are fitting. Catherine went to hug him tonight and stopped short.
“My arms didn’t reach around you before!” she said, hugging him a second time to be sure. “And I have room to spare!”
