It’s official: Catherine is a member of the Hofstra University Class of 2018.
With her midterms completed, she didn’t have to go to school on Friday so she and Basil instead drove to Hempstead, NY, to submit her paperwork and deposit.
(Already she’s distinguishing herself at the school. It seems no one ever brings their check in person; the office was a little confused!)
Of course the trip also involved a visit to the school store, a chance to wander campus and get some details on campus life from current students. Oh, and lunch at a local diner that I suspect we’ll be seeing a lot of in the near future.
Over the years, I’ve watched Catherine get worked up about lots of things — her first dance recital; the Jay-Z concert during which Basil texted me all night, “Who ARE these people?”; the fashion and hair preparation for Basil’s surprise 50th birthday party; her Sweet 16. …
But I don’t think I’ve seen her THIS excited since she was 3 and testing to see which swim class she should be put in for lessons at the YWCA.
That day, she was up early, bathing suit on (actually at the time, she wore that navy-blue, star-spangled one-piece nearly every day under her clothes — don’t ask!).
At the pool, she never hesitated, but flung herself into the deep end with abandon, into the waiting arms of an instructor.
Funny how history repeats itself, isn’t it?
Congratulations to you both! It must feel great to know that the decision is made. I can’t wait for my daughter to decide.
Thanks ! It’s a relief, except for the budget part!
that’s for sure….
So exciting!! Congratulations Catherine!
Thanks!
Education is a wonderful thing to get worked up over. π
Thank you for linking to Super Sunday Sync.
congratulations to Catherine, and to you, Terri!!! What a wonderful adventure!
One bit of advice: don’t let the school talk you into those expensive extra long dorm sheets! Get ’em on Amazon. And that is the best piece of wisdom I an offer, after having sent three kids to college!
Thank you! I’ll take every bit of wisdom I can get!
It’s always good when they’re excited about going off to college. And you can eat eggs again!
