Our class’ reunion time is upon us again, with plans for the 30th just getting under way, so Flashback today to the Port Chester High School Class of 1984’s 25th reunion.
Here we were at the first planning meeting back in 2008:
And here are Judy, John and me the night of the big event in 2009:
(You’ve seen pictures of John on this blog before; whatever era they are from, the guy is inevitably wearing the same hairdo as me. Weird.)
(Also, note to self: Do not wear all-purpose black dress to the next reunion.)
Last night, the Facebook page was created, and the invitations started to go out for the first planning meeting. Even though I have sworn that I would NOT take on any new projects lest I implode, I can’t pass this one up.
Unlike some people, my high school experience was largely positive. I remain connected to a lot of my classmates, some very closely, others in a casual way, but we are all brothers and sisters — and embraced, warts and all — just as we’ve been since around the time the photo below was taken.
And our reunions are great fun. One even became fodder for reality TV, when one of our classmates, a famed party planner and television personality, co-opted it for one of his shows. (Not sure if it was our lackluster performances or what, but we’ve not seen him since. Maybe next year.)
That’s me in the center (good GOD the stripes), and that’s John in the back row, third from the left, trying to grow his hair out so it’d be like mine.
As many of you know, this has certainly been The Year of the Reunion for me. Bring on the next one!
You all were always a great group of people–so many fun-loving, easy-going kids. Glad you’re still having fun! (some of you still look the same as in that photo, how does that happen?)
🙂
Hilarous post, Terri! Now you must explain the whole reality TV thing. I must have missed that airing!
Warts?? Speak for yourself.. Earhair maybe but no warts..
How are we doing our hair for the 14th, John? Short and spiky? Are you dying yours yet?
