Flashback Friday — Baby Love

Catherine, 3 months old.

Catherine, 3 months old.

July 4 weekend, 17 years ago.

Back when I could choose the outfits … and when she would actually wear a hat.

This is one of my very favorite photos (I took it!). She’s wearing one of two precious outfits the staff in the Old Greenwich Post Office chipped in to buy her. I think she’d managed to outgrow it the week after this photo was snapped.

As I recall, on the day this picture was taken, we pushed her in the stroller over to the big fountain next to the Hyatt on the Post Road. She loved that fountain. Grandpa took her there when he came to visit, and as she got older, it became a regular walk destination.

She is not the first Vanech to be so enthralled. Many years before this picture was taken, Basil filched his mother’s dish soap and headed for the fountain with a couple of friends. There they created quite a bubble bath.

I don’t think they were caught — or if they were, he isn’t saying.

Wife, mother, communications specialist, Jazzercise instructor and recently reunited adoptee. I'm living out loud -- and trying to make it all work -- in midlife. Having a sense of humor sure helps.
