It’s true I’m trying a resolution or two in 2013, but one thing will certainly not change: I will continue to embarrass Catherine (recognizing that this is often an innate talent of mine. No effort required).
And there’s no better time than the present.
We offered a special Pajama Party Jazzercise class today at the Jazzercise Center of Southwestern Connecticut — a fun way to get people started off on their fitness resolutions. It was a terrific, high-energy class, just as I knew it would be. Many people wore their PJs, too, which made for a lot of fun conversation along with the cardio, strength and stretch.
Naturally I went all out, choosing the right pajamas (not too fuzzy lest I overheat) and even wearing my robe in place of a jacket. (I remembered a sports bra, too, even though it felt strange to wear it with my sleepwear.)
Not surprisingly, Catherine took one look at my getup and declined my invitation to participate.
But I was undaunted. I tied that robe, threw on a scarf and pair of gloves, grabbed my sneakers and struck out for the center.
Driving to class, I flashed back to the many, many (many) times my mother would hose down the driveway or empty the garbage or undertake some other outdoor task in her bathrobe. Of course, I was embarrassed every time.
And here I was, driving across Stamford in my pajamas. Have I become my mother?! 😉
Halfway through the 20-minute trip to the center, I had a bit of a panic. What if a police officer pulled me over? Here I was behind the wheel in my blue fuzzy robe and purple PJs. What would I say?
Fortunately, it didn’t come to that. Not only did I get to class in one piece, but I had a great time (even if I did miss the support and wicking qualities of workout gear up there on stage).
Here I am with Peg, right before class started:

Hot stuff, right?
