Ready to ride out the storm

OK, we’re ready.

Batteries, bottled water and nonperishables purchased, flashlights checked, laundry’s done, lawn furniture and sundries packed away.

We’ve checked in on our parents and neighbors, watched Catherine do the “no school for three days” happy dance, got a jump on some work — just in case the power poops out — and went around plugging in every electronic gadget so they’ll all be charged.

After we came home from open house at Adelphi U, we swung by the beach and checked out the waves. Our stretch of sand along the Long Island Sound is usually pretty tame, but not tonight.

Tod’s Point, 5 pm Oct. 28.

Outside the wind is gathering steam, but the rain has not yet arrived.

In here, we’re all in our PJs and fuzzy socks, ready to dig in to big bowls of ice cream — we wouldn’t want all that yummy sweetness to possibly melt away after all.
