Flashback today to simpler times, when there was no back-talk, smart remarks or lip.
As I’ve noted in previous posts, this summer after freshman year of college is an adjustment for all three of us — almost as big a transition as was dropping Catherine off at Hofstra last August.
We’ve each developed some new habits we aren’t necessarily willing to cede for a few weeks.
Moreover, our outlooks have changed after a few months apart. To wit:
Last night, Catherine subjected me to a ridiculous “Shark Week” program rather than the episode of “Chopped” I might have chosen in her absence. As I grudgingly settled in to my spot on the couch, I asked her to reduce the volume on the TV.
“Why is it so loud?” I asked.
Never taking her eyes off the TV screen, Catherine replied: “Maybe you’re just old.”
It doesn’t take long for us to get into a new routine does it? 🙂 And, I’m so old I remember when you were ‘afraid’ of adults enough to never even think that let alone say it. LOL
