Flashback to August 1997. Catherine was 16 months old, all squishy snuggles, full of wonder and curiosity, and already putting an active imagination to work.
We were visiting my parents — a special treat for Catherine, especially since it meant a chance to play with Grandpa.
Grandpa must have needed to “rest his eyes” for a bit because here she’d moved on to other amusements, apparently igniting a lifelong love of communications devices.
My mother has captioned it, “I’m making a long-distance call!”
The photo is tucked in a memory board next to her desk and so is my constant companion now that I’ve taken over the space for work while she’s at school.
Makes me smile every time I look at it.
And it’s probably the last time she saw a landline!!! 😛
Always loved this photo! Notice how deep in “conversation” she is that she’s working her free hand to get her point across. And did you see photos of her and g-pa and her on counter behind her?
