With Catherine and Basil helping to deliver supplies to some Jersey Shore communities devastated by Hurricane Sandy last Saturday, I took advantage of the day to cook up a storm.
I filled the fridge with healthy home-cooked meals, trying to use up a lot of the food in house since we’ll soon have to make room for Thanksgiving goodies.
I baked an apple pie, simmered a pot of Italian wedding soup, whipped up a tray of baked ziti, made spinach and rice, and slow-cooked a beef stew.
My goal was to have a lot of comfy options for them both when they finished their long day.
So of course Basil got home, surveyed the scene and announced he wanted a steak.
After reading this blog, I feel like inviting myself over to enjoy all the good food!! Terri – I my mom taught me how to make a soup similar to your Italian Wedding Soup…..but we simply call it “soup with little meatballs”….but I think it’s the same. Hope all is well.
Oh my. The food sounds & looks wonderful. I know that it’ll be appreciated as the days go by. I bet the house smelled great while you were cooking! Reia from http://www.southcountrysides.blogspot.com
It did! But it didn’t smell like steak!
