22 years and counting

Happy anniversary to us! It’s been 22 years since we said “I do” on a rainy September day.

The cliche was true — it’s (mostly!) been showers of happiness since. Below, some pictures from throughout the years.

Neither of us plays piano, but it was a prop worth exploiting in the atrium of the Hyatt Regency, Old Greenwich. That goodness we rented it for photos; it poured rain all day. Showers of happiness, everyone assured us.

We thought this section of Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich, CT, might have been closed to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Alas, it was for a fashion event that took place while we were eating dinner out. No matter, one of Greenwich's finest was kind enough to snap this shot of us hamming it up.

From Basil's 40th high school reunion last month. (I definitely need to retire the all-purpose black dress!)

Heading off to see a friend get hitched, August 1992. Fun fact: Basil bought this dress for me during the Greenwich Avenue sidewalk sales. We were up and down the Avenue countless times and spent a ton of time in Richard’s (expensive then, but not nearly as posh as it is today). Basil used to get great suits there during the sales. While he perused the racks I sat down, closed by eyes and must have dozed off. My wake-up call? A toddler boy asking his mom, “Is that lady sleeping?” I’ve never lived it down.

This is how we looked in 1987, when we started dating. No gray hair for me. Long frosted hair for me. And yes, I think he kept hold of that beer just as tightly as he did me!

  3. Happy Anniversary to two of my favorite people in the world!! Can’t begin to express the love I have for both of you. Watching your relationship grow has been awesome (and often hysterical!!) I wish everyone could enjoy the friendship, the love, the respect, the bond that you and Bill have. And as if that weren’t enough, you’ve managed to do it with a healthy dose of good humor.

And thanks for our awesome granddaughter!!!

    Have a memory-making anniversary celebration.
