Strike up the Band

I had a great time ushering in summer last weekend. In addition to my usual weekend activities, we had a great barbecue with good friends and a quiet Father’s Day celebration doing some of the things Basil enjoys (more barbecuing, a little shopping, a walk on the beach…).

The weekend also marked the annual concert by the Rye Town Community Band, a multigenerational group of musicians I have so much fun playing with. Somehow this year, I managed to convince Basil and Catherine to come out for the show.

Catherine acted the part of videographer, capturing the performance … until my tablet ran out of memory. Oops.

Before it did, she managed to film Procession of the Nobles …

… Yesterday …

… Phantom of the Opera medley …

and the 1812 Overture.

Marc Arnel, one of the trumpet players, was much more organized than we were and managed to have the entire performance filmed. You can watch here (thanks, Marc!)
