As we’d hoped, Catherine’s Sweet 16 party last night was an affair to remember. The combination of 10 close girlfriends, a trip to New York and lots of sugar fit the bill rather nicely. Catherine wanted a celebration unlike what many other girls are doing for their milestone day, and she got it.
I love how my daughter marches to her own drummer much of the time.
Here’s the birthday girl after a day of primping:
Here’s the girls at Serafina restaurant, where they treated us like royalty and we had a fabulous meal:
Here they are at Dylan’s Candy Bar, which quickly became a Girls Gone Wild event. Although an avowed chocoholic, I’ve never before purchased an entire shopping bag full of candy!

I Want Candy -- and they got it -- and some sensory overload -- at Dylan's Candy Bar.
Did you check out some of the shoes? These girls went the extra mile to get all dolled up:

Just a few examples of the amazing heels the girls rocked for the occasion. Oh, how I wish Jacky's hot-pink sparkly numbers were my size!
But my favorite part of the night might be that a full three minutes after the parlour car dropped us back at home, the girls looked like this:

Casual Saturday. The girls wasted no time switching out their party clothes for sweats! All the better to enjoy ice cream and cupcakes!
(I did, too!)
Looks like a fantastic evening. Hope the sugar high wears off by Monday!
What a fabulous night! Wish I could have been an observer. How long will it take you to recover? And we won’t even discuss how long it’ll take Basil’s AMEX!
